Diocesan Mission Statement For Catholic Schools
Parents
are the primary educators of their children. The Church has the
responsibility to proclaim the Word of God. In partnership with parents
and the Church, Catholic schools exist to enable persons to hear the
message of hope contained in the Gospel, to base their love and service
of God upon this message, to achieve a vital personal relationship with
Christ and to share the Gospel's realistic vie of the human condition.
They provide a unique setting within which young people's faith can
become living, conscious and active. The Catholic school accepts the
challenge and the obligations to be unique, contemporary and oriented to
Christian service.
A
Catholic school is unique because of its total commitment to the
three-fold purpose of Christian education: message, community and
service. It creates an atmosphere where Catholic faith can be integrated
with life and learning.
A Catholic
school is contemporary because it enables students to address with
Christian insight the multiple problems people face in today's society.
It equips the student to understand his role in his individual and in
his global family and to deepen his awareness of human needs.
A
Catholic school is oriented to Christian service because it helps
students acquire skills, attitudes and values necessary for effective
service to others. It challenges a student to accept responsibility for
himself and for others and to promote the achievement of justice so that
he may minister to others in the spirit of the Gospel. All those
involved in a Catholic school - parents, pastors, teachers,
administrators, and students - must strive to make a community of faith
which indeed is living, conscious and active. Central to this faith
community is the sharing of the sacraments, liturgy, prayer, and
spiritual activities.
As a highly visible part of the Catholic community, the school must
evidence dedication to proclaiming the Word of God and witness that
message by action and service. In this way, it will fulfill its mission
of forming its members in Christ.
Our
Mission
Guardian Angels Catholic School is
a vital mission of its four feeder parishes: St. Ignatius of Antioch, St.
Michael the Archangel, St. Luke and All Saints. The school is
dedicated to provide a challenging, faith-filled, educational environment
fostering and reflecting Gospel values which establishes the foundation for an
active life in service to the Church, community and world.
Philosophy
Since
Christian education is intended to make our faith become living,
conscious, and active through the light of instruction, Guardian Angels
Catholic School becomes a unique setting within which this ideal can be
realized in the lives of our children.
As a
believing community we strengthen one another's faith in Christ Jesus by
our worship in common and by our efforts to live the gospel message each
day.
As
a community we strive to educate the faith filled students who
continually extol, support and practice Christian values passed to us
through our Catholic faith. In an environment characterized by love,
interest and concern, students are encouraged to develop their God-given
talents and potential. Through a curriculum designed to promote
excellence, students are provided with the tools necessary to function,
grow and develop into responsible and service-centered adults.
